Early Childhood Development – Khayelitsha and Lwandle – National Lotteries Commission

This project, funded by a National Lotteries Commission grant, focused on the introduction of a structured Early Childhood Development training program into selected pre-primary schools in two disadvantaged townships in the Western Cape of South Africa.

The project aimed to provide a “blueprint” for further initiatives throughout South Africa in support of the South African Government’s stated policy initiatives in support of Early Childhood Development.

The intent was to enable the selected schools to become fully registered Early Childhood Development centres (“ECD Centres”) for the areas that they serve and to provide centres of excellence in Early Childhood Development that act as future training centres for other aspiring ECD practitioners.
